The incident occurred when the main pole of the structure used for the ritual suddenly bent, causing the dancers to fall to the ground. This accident was recorded on video, in which you can see that the flyers began their dance, and as they descended as they traditionally do, the structure that supported them began to move sideways, until it fell with the group, and it fell in the direction where some attendees were under a tarp. After the fall, other videos circulating on social media show residents helping the dancers from Papantla who had crashed. Ambulances arrived at the scene to provide them with the necessary treatment. According to some reports, the lack of adequate preventive measures was the factor that led to the dancers' fall.
