The toddler, who suffered serious injuries to both her legs, left hand and waist, is undergoing treatment at Sharda Hospital in Chandkheda. According to the police, the incident took place around 1.15 pm inside Shiv Bungalows in Noblenagar, Sardarnagar, when little Diva, daughter of Chirag and Divya Sharma, was playing on the society's internal road. A car suddenly entered the society and, while being driven recklessly, hit the child. The driver a 15-year-old boy, a resident of Nana Chiloda, allegedly did not hold a driving licence at the time of the incident. The child's father, Chirag Sharma (32), who runs a business in Gota, told the police that he received a distress call from his wife around 1.30 pm, informing him that their daughter had met with an accident. "My wife said that Diva had been hit by a car in the society and that she was being taken to Sharda Hospital. When I reached the hospital, I saw my daughter bleeding and crying in pain. She had injuries on both legs, her left hand and her waist," he stated in his complaint. He added that his wife and a society resident, Pritesh Parmar, witnessed the incident and immediately called the police. "The driver was speeding inside the society without any regard for safety. It was later learnt that he was not even carrying a valid driving licence," said police. Following the complaint, the G Traffic Police has registered an FIR against the minor for rash and negligent driving and driving without a licence. Police said the preliminary probe suggests that the accused had taken the car without the owner's permission and was driving it inside the society premises when the mishap occurred. The vehicle has been seized for forensic and mechanical inspection. An officer from G Traffic Police said, "The child is out of danger, but she has sustained multiple injuries. We are verifying the driver's background and checking CCTV footage from the society to establish the sequence of events." Residents of Shiv Bungalows expressed shock over the incident and demanded stricter enforcement against reckless driving within residential complexes. "Children play freely here during the afternoons. This could have ended much worse," said a resident who witnessed the commotion. Police said that further legal action will be taken based on medical reports and eyewitness accounts.
