He survived the beating but is left unable to walk, no short term memory, and can't eat solid food. Jayshawn was in jail for minor charges too like criminal mischief and carrying a knife. It's unclear what the beating was about but it seems like it was completely unprovoked and random. The guy who smashed the microwave on his head got 20 years on top of his current sentence. Pretty wild. The prison was so understaffed that no one came to help too which makes the whole thing even scary for such a minor charge.
